Jets fielding trade inquiries for Sheldon Richardson

A number of NFL teams have been "calling" about New York Jets defensive end Sheldon Richardson, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

What It Means:

The trade deadline is Tuesday at 4pm Eastern, so the Jets only have two days left to strike a deal. The Jets don't have much cap space available next year and Richardson has only one year remaining on his contract after this season. It wouldn't hurt the Jets to at least gauge his value over the next 48 hours. If the Jets don't get an offer to their liking, they could look to trade Richardson again during the offseason.

Richardson has had a somewhat slow season in the sack department, with just 1.5 in six games played. He's been racking up the tackles, though, with 28. He's on pace for 70 tackles this year. The Jets' defense as a whole is 23rd in schedule-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play.
