Devontae Booker leads Broncos' backfield in snaps in Week 7

Denver Broncos running back Devontae Booker rushed 17 times for 83 yards and one touchdown on Monday Night Football in a Week 7 win over the Houston Texans.

What It Means:

Despite C.J. Anderson starting the game and running well throughout, Booker out-snapped him 35-28 Monday night. He finished with 17 carries, compared to 16 for Anderson, while they both found their way into the end zone. The two backs essentially alternated series for all four quarters, allowing both to stay fresh and effective. Expect this trend to continue, with Denver's backfield taking on a similar look to what the Atlanta Falcons have done with Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. Neither Booker or Anderson have specific roles as a "goal-line" option or "third-down" back, but they should see enough work to maintain standalone fantasy value moving forward. The Broncos face the San Diego Chargers at home in Week 8.

Anderson was the more efficient runner in Week 7, posting 4.98 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) to Booker's 1.54, per numberFire Live. For the season, however, Booker has Anderson beat on a per play basis, averaging 0.04 Rushing NEP per play to Anderson's -0.03
