Jets acknowledge quarterback change a possibility

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles left the door open for a quarterback change on Tuesday.

What It Means:

Bowles claimed that Ryan Fitzpatrick would remain the team's starting quarterback following Monday night's embarrassing loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Speaking Tuesday, he clarified that he wouldn't announce that sort of change immediately after a game. Bowles and his coaching staff will meet to discuss the potential change under center on Tuesday night. With his league-leading 11 interceptions, Fitzpatrick has managed to chew up one of the longest leashes in the NFL. The issue is backup Geno Smith might not be any better.

Per numberFire Live, Fitzpatrick posted an ugly -4.08 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) in Monday's loss. He ranks 31st in the league in Passing NEP per play among the 32 quarterbacks with at least 75 dropbacks this season.
