Green Bay Packers cornerback Sam Shields was placed on injured reserve with a concussion.
Per NFL.com's Mike Garofolo, the concussion has "not subsided as first hoped." Shields has been sidelined since Week 2 with his fifth career concussion, but via the defensive back's social media page, he hopes to be designated as the Packers' "return" player in eight weeks. Damarious Randall is battling a groin injury, so things are getting thin in the Green Bay secondary.
Through six weeks of the season, the Packers rank 15th in Adjusted Passing Net Expected Points per play.
