Packers acquire Knile Davis in trade with Chiefs

The Green Bay Packers have acquired running back Knile Davis from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a conditional late-round draft pick.

What It Means:

With James Starks likely missing a month with a knee injury and Eddie Lacy battling an ankle injury, Davis is being brought in as depth. Wide receivers Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery are now less likely to take snaps at running back moving forward.

The last season that Davis saw significant work (with 134 carries in 2014), he was terrible. Among the 134 times running backs have tallied 100-plus carries since 2013 when Davis entered the league, he posted the eighth-worst Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry, and the second-worst success rate (percentage of carries that contributed positive NEP).
