Jets' Eric Decker's surgery requires 6-8 month recovery time

New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker said he expects to undergo shoulder surgery in the next "week or two."

What It Means:

"It's not a fun time," admitted Decker. "But obviously it's something that needs to be done to continue my career." Despite his efforts to play through it, Decker was forced to resort to surgery after his torn labrum showed no improvement over the past two weeks. He compared the pain to someone "stabbing" him. Decker is looking at 6-8 months of recovery, putting Brandon Marshall and Quincy Enunwa in place to be the biggest beneficiaries over the rest of the season.

The Jets currently rank 25th in Adjusted Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play. Among the 81 receivers with at least 20 targets on the year, Decker ranks an impressive 16th in Reception NEP per target. Enunwa is 43rd, while Marshall checks in at 50th under those same terms.
