Cam Newton, Jonathan Stewart remain absent from Panthers' practice Friday
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (concussion) and running back Jonathan Stewart are not practicing Friday.
Panthers beat writer Joe Person doesn't expect Newton to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday night. The official team injury report will be released Saturday, but Derek Anderson is the anticipated starter for Week 5. Cameron Artis-Payne and Fozzy Whittaker will split the backfield work for Carolina, but neither makes for an appealing flex play.
With Newton expected to be sidelined, Anderson projects to be numberFire's fantasy QB16 for Week 5, as well as a worthy streaming option. Our algorithms expect him to throw for 240 passing yards, 1.72 touchdowns and 0.76 interceptions on 19-of-30 passing attempts.
