Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Charles Sims could see a reduced role for Week 5's game against the Carolina Panthers, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.
"We definitely just can't keep doing the same stuff, because that's not working," Koetter said about the Bucs' run game. Doug Martin is expected to remain on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, so any changes will likely mean less Charles Sims and increased opportunity in the backfield for either Jacquizz Rodgers or Peyton Barber.
Sims has a rough -0.19 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry on the year, ranking 44th among the 50 running backs with at least 20 carries on the season. Rodgers' doesn't make that 20-carry cutoff, with only 13 rushes so far, but he has a solid 0.08 Rushing NEP per carry.
