Giants showing 'optimism' Rashad Jennings (thumb) plays Week 4

New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings (thumb) could return for Week 4, per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, who reports there is "optimism" regarding Jennings' status for Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings.

What It Means:

One may argue the optimism is more a sense of urgency after Shane Vereen (triceps) was ruled out for the season. Jennings was a surprise scratch on Sunday, but has admitted he's unsure of his ability to contribute in the passing game, something that becomes much more of a premium asset in the Giants' backfield with Vereen going down. Orleans Darkwa saw the majority of work on Sunday, with Bobby Rainey replacing Vereen in the passing-game.

Jennings currently holds a Week 4 projection of 12 rush attempts for 54 yards and 0.30 touchdowns, plus 3 catches for 29 yards, per numberFire's metrics. Expect these to fluctuate a bit as Jennings' status is updated throughout the week.
