The New England Patriots believe quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) "has a chance" to be ready in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Jacoby Brissett injured his thumb on Thursday, but won't require surgery, so if Garoppolo is ready after the extended break he will be under center in the Pats' final game during the Tom Brady suspension. It's still up in the air though, so expect New England to sign a veteran quarterback sometime soon.
Among quarterbacks with at least 62 pass attempts this season, Garoppolo ranks first with 0.49 net expected points per pass.
