Panthers defensive lineman Star Lotulelei carted off field
Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Star Lotulelei was carted off the field during Monday's practice, and he was spotted wearing a walking boot on his right foot.
Lotulelei had surgery on the same foot during this offseason to repair a broken bone. He is the starting right defensive tackle and an anchor on the Panthers' defensive line. He has been considered one of the best defensive tackles in football during his first two seasons.
The Panthers ranked 10th in the NFL in our schedule-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points metric last season. We projected Lotulelei to finish the year with 38 tackles and 3.0 sacks, but his main impact comes in eating up blockers and creating interior pressure for the Panthers' defense. Stay tuned, as the medical staff is still undergoing further tests on his foot.
