Bears' Danny Trevathan needs thumb surgery
Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan will undergo thumb surgery, but is expected to return this season.
One could argue this is a bigger loss for Chicago than Jay Cutler (thumb). Trevathan could miss anywhere from 2-6 weeks with the injury, but the shorter timetable is a bit optimistic. The fact he's avoiding being placed on injured reserve is a positive sign, but the Bears defense is going to be a mess.
Trevathan has picked up more than 100 tackles in two of the last three seasons, as well as an average of 2.5 interceptions and eight passes defended in those healthy seasons.
