What It Means:

Unofficially, McCown was 15-for-19 with his passes. Manziel was 14-of-15. We can't get too excited about training camp statistics -- or say that McCown has glimpses of a top-five quarterback like Dwayne Bowe said -- but it's at least a good sign for the Browns.

McCown has been an above-replacement level passer according to our metrics just once in his career: 2013 with the Chicago Bears. He was the second-best passer on a per-drop back basis in that season, though, among all quarterbacks with at least 200 drop backs. Conversely, Manziel was the worst quarterback on a per-drop back basis among 56 passers with at least 25 drop backs last year. McCown was 43rd.
