Broncos announce Trevor Siemian will start
The Denver Broncos officially announced Trevor Siemian as their starting quarterback.
The 2015 seventh-round selection simply outplayed the veteran Mark Sanchez and the more talented rookie Paxton Lynch throughout training camp and the preseason. Showing a good understanding of the offense and a willingness to push the ball downfield, it is not crazy to think Siemian could perform as well as the diminished Peyton Manning and scattershot Brock Osweiler did last season. Sanchez did not play in the third preseason game, and it appears likely he will be cut this week.
Our models currently expect Siemian to throw for 3,696 yards with 16.59 touchdowns and 15.55 interceptions on 546 attempts (61.87 completion percentage) this season. We also project him to add 208 rushing yards and 1.08 scores on the ground.
