New York Jets quarterback Bryce Petty completed 16-of-26 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns Friday night against Washington.
Petty played the entire second half, and looked fairly competent running the offense while doing so. Head coach Todd Bowles has said there is no competition between Petty and Smith for the backup job, but Petty could change that if he keeps playing like this, especially after Smith threw a brutal interception on Friday night. Rookie Christian Hackenberg will likely have to wait until the final preseason game to see the field.
At this point, Smith is no longer a fantasy factor. Our algorithms project him for 229 yards, 1.43 touchdowns, and 0.76 interceptions on 33 passing attempts this upcoming season.
