DeAngelo Hall

DeAngelo Hall slotted as a starting cornerback in Washington

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said that DeAngelo Hall is expected to be a starting cornerback for the team this season.

What It Means:

Hall tore his Achilles tendon two different times last year and played in only three games in 2014. Still, Gruden said, "He's going to be our starting cornerback until somebody knocks him off."

Hall has had at least 12 passes defensed in the four years prior to 2014. Washington owned the worst pass defense in the NFL last season, according to our schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play metric, which compares a team to expectation-level performance. Their 0.27 points per play allowed was significantly worse than Tampa Bay's 0.18, which ranked 31st.
