Panthers' Devin Funchess ready to break through

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess is "ready to break through in a big way," The Charlotte Observer believes.

What It Means:

Funchess has "continually (gotten) behind the first-team secondary and hauled in bombs from Cam Newton," according to reporter Joseph Person. Linebacker Thomas Davis has also been impressed with Funchess saying, "Man, Funch had an amazing camp. And it really started with OTAs and minicamp." The glowing updates correspond with ESPN's David Newton calling Funchess one of the most valuable players of Panthers camp Tuesday. Funchess is worth taking as a WR4/5 flier in fantasy drafts.

Among the 74 receivers with at least 60 targets last season, Funchess ranked 35th in Net Expected Points per target at 0.71. Our models currently project him to turn 43 receptions into 639 yards and 3.67 touchdowns in 2016.
