Devin Funchess

Devin Funchess one of Panthers' MVPs at training camp

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess is one of the MVPs of training camp, claims ESPN Panthers reporter David Newton.

What It Means:

Newton believes that the second-year wideout will be "a force to reckon with in 2016." This comes after recent speculation that Funchess could even outproduce Kelvin Benjamin this year, who is reportedly struggling with his conditioning after missing the entirety of last season. Despite disappointing usage in the preseason opener -- he saw just five snaps with Cam Newton under center, all of which were running plays -- Funchess has been showered with praise over the past two weeks, and he makes for a great selection in the double-digit rounds.

Among the 74 receivers with at least 60 targets last season, Funchess ranked 35th in Net Expected Points per target at 0.71. Our models currently project him to turn 43 receptions into 639 yards and 3.67 touchdowns in 2016.
