Bills release Leonard Hankerson after terrible camp, opener
The Buffalo Bills released wide receiver Leonard Hankerson.
Hankerson reportedly "looked strong" as a candidate for third wideout duties in Buffalo, earning first-team reps in the spring. However, things took a sharp turn once the pads came on, with Hankerson struggling throughout training camp. Then, in Saturday's preseason opener, he managed to catch just one of his seven targets, committing three drops in the contest. The 27-year-old receiver may be running out of opportunities.
Hankerson performed well last season, based on our metrics, ranking 14th in Reception Net Expected Points per target among the 101 receivers who saw at least 40 targets. In eight games, he had 26 catches for 327 yards and three touchdowns.
