Patriots' Rob Ninkovich (torn triceps) is not out for the season

New England Patriots defensive end Rob Ninkovich (torn triceps) will be out for four to six weeks, "not months," the Boston Herald reports.

What It Means:

Torn triceps are typically season-ending injuries, but it appears Ninkovich tore "just" the muscle and not his tendon, and won't undergo surgery. Ninkovich could be ready Week 1 at the earliest. ESPN's Mike Reiss has reported "how much (Ninkovich's) loss of strength affects him is key." At the very worst, he'll be back at some point in September and potentially miss just two games.

Ninkovich logged 905 snaps in 2015, and has started every game for New England each of the past five seasons. The Patriots defense finished 12th in schedule-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points in 2015, after finishing in the top-10 in 2014.
