Darren McFadden

Cowboys making Darren McFadden (elbow, active/NFI) available

Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden (elbow, active/NFI) could be on the trading block, ESPN Cowboys reporter Todd Archer revealed to SiriusXM's Mike Clay.

What It Means:

The selection of Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick, along with Alfred Morris' ability to be a capable backup, has made McFadden expendable for the Cowboys. With their lack of depth on defense, exchanging McFadden for a defensive end or linebacker would make a lot of sense for Dallas. He's expected to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, despite his current active/NFI status.

Our models currently project McFadden to rush for 415 yards and 1.36 touchdowns on 103 carries this season, along with 30 catches for 207 receiving yards and 0.35 scores. Among the 44 running backs with at least 100 carries in 2015, he finished 19th in Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt.
