Eagles' Ron Brooks expected to start opposite Leodis McKelvin

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Ron Brooks is in the lead to start opposite Leodis McKelvin, the Philadelphia Inquirer believes.

What It Means:

Brooks has been out in front since offseason practices began -- as a favorite of defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz since they worked together with the Buffalo Bills. Nothing is set in stone yet, but reporter Jeff McLane doesn't even consider 2015 second-round selection Eric Rowe a candidate. If the season started today, Brooks would probably kick inside to the slot in nickel situations, with Nolan Carroll manning the boundary.

The Eagles had a solid pass defense in 2015, finishing 13th in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play. Brooks saw very limited use in Buffalo, picking up 47 total tackles and three passes defended over the last two seasons combined. He played 693 snaps from 2014 to 2015 with the Bills.
