Tom Savage

Tom Savage is much-improved at Texans' camp

Houston Texans quarterback Tom Savage is a "very improved" player, head coach Bill O'Brien said.

What It Means:

Savage is back at camp after missing all of last season due to a nagging shoulder injury. "The only thing Tom needs is an opportunity," said O'Brien. "Tom is a good football player and he's put a lot of time in to get to where he is right now." One of the pre-draft critiques of Savage was that he had a long load and slow delivery, but he seems to be getting the ball out quicker than he did in college. A strong training camp could put him ahead of Brandon Weeden for backup duties behind starter Brock Osweiler.

Our algorithms project Osweiler for 3,663 passing yards, 20.67 touchdowns and 14.36 interceptions in his first year in Houston. He's our 29th-best fantasy quarterback in 2016.
