Dak Prescott taking Cowboys' backup snaps on Friday
Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has been getting snaps ahead of Jameill Showers.
Prescott is in line to be the backup quarterback now that Kellen Moore is out with a fractured ankle, but has gotten off to a slow start at camp. Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News noted that Showers significantly outperformed Prescott at Thursday's session with Prescott struggling in 1-on-1 drills and throwing behind his receivers. Free agent Josh Freeman has reportedly reached out to Dallas but it's unclear if the interest is mutual.
Without Romo for most of the 2015 season, the Cowboys' passing attack ranked 30th in Adjusted Offensive Passing Net Expected Points per play. Should he get injured again, the Cowboys will be in dire straits.
