Buccaneers place George Johnson (hip) on season-ending injured reserve
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed defensive end George Johnson on injured reserve with a fractured hip, ending his season.
Johnson suffered the injury in Thursday's practice. According to ESPN reporter Jenna Laine, Johnson will need 16 weeks to recover. Signed to a three-year, $9 million pact last year, Johnson didn't record a sack in 2015.
Johnson recorded just 23 total tackles in 11 games played in 2015. His injury reduces competition for snaps between reserve ends like rookie Noah Spence and Jacquies Smith in 2016.
