San Francisco to replace Frank Gore with committee?
According to 49ers beat writer Matt Maiocco, the San Francisco 49ers are expected to replace Frank Gore with "more than one" running back.
Carlos Hyde is expected to receive a bulk of the goal-line and base down carries. However, Reggie Bush and Kendall Hunter will compete for touches on passing downs in the 49ers offense. Hyde was placed on the active/PUP list with a minor calf strain to start training camp.
The 49ers ranked outside the top-20 in our schedule-adjusted Rushing Net Expected Points metric last season. Hyde ranked in the bottom 15, among all running backs with at least 80 carries, with a -0.09 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt. We expect Hyde to finish with 980 rushing yards, 5 touchdowns, 33 receptions, and 222 receiving yards this upcoming season.
