Dolphins' Cameron Wake (Achilles') will have reduced role in 2016
Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake (Achilles') will have a reduced role this year.
Wake looked healthy at OTA's, but is only eight months removed from a torn Achilles -- which could severely limit his off-the-snap burst. The Dolphins have said all offseason they want to get him fewer snaps. Andre Branch should have a heavy rotational role behind Wake and Mario Williams.
Miami ranked just 30th in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points (NEP) per play in 2015. In seven games in 2015, Wake recorded seven sacks, but we project him for 41.72 tackles and 11.98 sacks in 2016. Our algorithms peg Branch for 10.92 tackles and 1.50 sacks, but if Wake struggles, those numbers could rise.
