Cardinals have no timetable for Calais Campbell extension
Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell is in the final year of his contract, but general manager Steve Keim said there’s no timetable for an extension.
Campbell has been a top 3-4 defensive end the last few years and is only entering his age-30 season. Still, it may not be a matter of desire: re-signing him could be difficult with the Cardinals’ stretched cap situation. Locking up defensive back Tyrann Mathieu is Arizona’s top priority.
Our algorithms project Campbell for 72.57 tackles and 6.58 sacks in 2016. The Cardinals ranked eighth in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play in 2015.
