Jonathan Bullard drawing rave reviews from Bears' coaching staff

Chicago Bears rookie defensive end Jonathan Bullard is "really bright," defensive line coach Jay Rodgers said.

What It Means:

That intelligence, combined with Bullard's impressive physique, should allow him to contribute quickly once training camp starts. The rookie will likely open his career as a rotational lineman, but he could push veteran Mitch Unrein for the starting job right out of the gate.

As of right now, we still project Unrein to start, affording him 35.41 tackles and 1.93 sacks in 2016. Chicago's 0.12 Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points (NEP) per play in 2015 ranked 30th in the league. They were particularly atrocious defending the pass, ranking 31st in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play.
