Tim Hightower

Tim Hightower will be Saints' top backup running back

New Orleans Saints running back Tim Hightower "seems like the best bet" to open the season as starter Mark Ingram's primary backup, the New Orleans Advocate confirms.

What It Means:

Hightower came off the street just one month before Ingram's year-ending shoulder injury last season. He emerged as the Saints' every-down back down the stretch. The Advocate's Nick Underhill says passing-down specialist C.J. Spiller "needs to prove he can still be productive" after a lost first season in New Orleans. Underhill even suggests Spiller's roster spot may not be assured.

Our algorithms project Hightower as the 71st-ranked fantasy option at running back heading into training camp. We give him a line of 38 carries for 168 yards and 1.53 touchdowns, as well as 10 receptions for 79 yards receiving. We project Spiller slightly higher, as the 68th-best at the position.
