Marvin Lewis: Dalton has taken strides in leadership this year
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said that quarterback Andy Dalton has taken significant strides as a leader this year.
Dalton isn't the most vocal player, but considering his role on the team, this is probably good news, especially because he has been the subject of criticism in recent seasons. The team has plenty of offensive weapons, so maybe Dalton can take the leap this season.
Dalton hasn't shown steady improvement as a passer, according to our Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, which compares a player to expectation level. His Passing NEP of 24.54 was his second-best score to date (it was 54.69 in 2013), but it ranked him just 18th among 30 quarterbacks with at least 300 drop backs.
