Muhammad Wilkerson and Jets still not talking
New York Jets franchise-tagged defensive lineman Muhammed Wilkerson and the team have yet to engage in contract negotiations.
Things aren't looking good between the two sides, as Wilkerson has been away from the team almost the entire offseason. He doesn't appear to have intentions of showing face any time soon either, as he can sit out until Week 1 and still receive the entirety of his $15.7 million salary. It is highly unlikely that Wilkerson and the Jets are able to work something out prior to the July 15 deadline.
Our algorithms currently project Wilkerson to rack up 60.68 tackles, 13.20 sacks and 4.00 passes defensed in 2016. The Jets' defense finished 2015 ranked sixth in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play.
