Browns have Andrew Hawkins penciled in as second wide receiver

Andrew Hawkins and rookie Rashard Higgins are pegged as the Cleveland Browns' likely second and third receivers this year, according to ESPN's Tony Grossi.

What It Means:

Hawkins' veteran standing and history with head coach Hue Jackson during his tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals, should give him an early leg up. Higgins is a fifth-round pick out of Colorado State. Rookie Corey Coleman, running back Duke Johnson, and tight end Gary Barnidge figure to soak up most of the targets in Cleveland this season.

Even if he's the nominal second receiver, our algorithms project Hawkins for 34 catches with 345 receiving yards and 1.51 touchdowns. Whoever wins the third receiver role -- be it Higgins, Jordan Payton, Taylor Gabriel, or Terrelle Pryor -- may be in line for a projected 35 catches for 442 yards and 1.58 touchdowns.
