Malcolm Mitchell

Malcolm Mitchell taking to Patriots' offense quickly

New England Patriots fourth-round rookie wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell is "showing early aptitude" in the Patriots' offense, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.

What It Means:

Plenty of talented receivers have failed to grasp the complexities of New England's offense, and even veteran Danny Amendola recently equated the Pats' passing game to driving without street signs. While Mitchell may not see much of a workload in year one -- he's behind slot star Julian Edelman, Amendola and new acquisition Chris Hogan -- it's only good news that Mitchell shined in pre-camp practices.

Our algorithms currently project Mitchell to record just six catches for 81 yards receiving, and 0.44 touchdowns in his rookie campaign. That said, he's positioning himself well to pick up the slack in case of any injuries.
