The Chicago Bears claimed quarterback Connor Shaw off waivers from the Cleveland Browns.
Shaw was waived by Cleveland on Thursday. The New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks also put in claims for Shaw but the Bears had a higher priority. Shaw spent all of 2015 on injured reserve after breaking his thumb in a preseason game. He has an outside shot to make the team as the third-string quarterback behind starter Jay Cutler and backup Brian Hoyer.
The 24-year-old Shaw started one game for Cleveland in 2014, completing 14-of-28 passes for 177 yards and an interception against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17. He had an uninspiring -0.06 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back on 32 drop backs in that game.
