Akeem Spence wants to remain with Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Akeem Spence wants to stay with the team beyond this season.
"I would love to stay in Tampa," said Spence. "I have been here helping to build this thing and definitely want to see this thing through all the way." The contract-year interior lineman also said he's excited to be working with new defensive coordinator Mike Smith. The 24-year-old was limited to eight games last season while battling back and ankle injuries, and was also suspended a game for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
In 2015, the Buccaneers ranked 23rd in the NFL in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play, with a mark of 0.09. Our algorithms project the rotational option Spence for 36.80 tackles and 2.82 sacks this season.
