Washington, Kirk Cousins not expected to agree to a long-term deal
Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins -- who is currently playing under the franchise tag -- is not expected to sign a long-term deal before the July 15th deadline, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
"I think there would be teams willing to pay him if he were on the open market today more than Washington feels like it needs to pay him," Schefter said. "I think a team like the Cleveland Browns would’ve given him $20 million a year, maybe more." That pretty much sums up the standoff.
Among passers with at least 100 drop backs last year, Cousins ranked seventh in Passing Net Expected Points per drop back. He wrapped up his first full season as a starter with 29 touchdowns, 11 picks and a league-best 69.8 completion percentage.
