Saquon Barkley S. Barkley

Giants 'optimistic' Saquon Barkley (ankle) will play in Week 6

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the New York Giants are "hopeful" and "optimistic" that star running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) will play in the team's Week 6 game against the Buffalo Bills.

What It Means:

Schefter notes that while the team is apparently hopeful and optimistic about Barkley's health, they're still expected to be careful with their star's health. Reading between the lines, the Giants could rest Barkley for another week while they hope their offensive line and starting quarterback heal up a little more. The Giants have a 12.2% win probability for this game and are sitting at 1-4 on the season, so there's little reason to risk the health of their key players unneccessarily.

If he does suit up, our models project Barkley, who has a $8,000 salary on FanDuel, to rush for 71.6 yards, to put up 19.7 yards as a pass catcher, and to score 0.4 touchdowns from scrimmage for 13.2 fantasy points. The Bills have been susceptible on the ground this season and suffered some tough injuries in Week 5, so Barkley could have a decent day on the ground if he does play.
