Ezekiel Elliott could crack 300 carries for Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys running back and fourth overall pick Ezekiel Elliott "will finish with roughly 280-300 carries," believes DallasCowboys.com's David Helman.
One running back topped 300 carries last season (Adrian Peterson), and only one other back cracked 270 totes (Doug Martin). Even with that being said, Elliott joining the 300-club is a realistic outcome this season. It was only one season ago that Dallas fed DeMarco Murray the rock 392 times and their investment of a top-five pick on a running back is a testament to their intentions of bringing back that ground-dominant approach that formed their identity in 2014. Despite some modest competition in Dallas' backfield, Elliott projects to be the number-one option on a run-dominant team. He won't last long in fantasy drafts this season.
The Cowboys' offense ranked 28th in Offensive Net Expected Points (NEP) in 2015. With an elite offensive line in front of him, Elliott may have landed in the best possible situation for his fantasy value. In dynasty formats, he's locked in as the first overall pick in rookie drafts.
