Keith Marshall left off Washington projected 53-man roster
Washington seventh-round rookie running back Keith Marshall was off the Washington Post's Mike Jones's 53-man roster projection.
Jones has Matt Jones, Chris Thompson, and Mack Brown making the final roster, but he acknowledged it is possible the team keep four running backs. A 219-pound back with 4.31 wheels, Marshall's college career was sidetracked by an ACL injury as a sophomore, and he dealt with hamstring issues during the offseason program. Marshall has a ton of athletic upside, but he needs to stay healthy through training camp.
Among backs with at least 100 rushing attempts, Jones ranked dead last in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry. However, among backs with at least 25 targets, he checked in first in Reception NEP per target. If he can maintain the efficiency in the passing game and get the volume of a lead back, Jones will be a valuable commodity in 2016.
