Kansas City's Eric Berry may become the highest-paid safety
Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry, who was hit with the franchise tag earlier this offseason, has a "reasonable chance" to become the highest-paid safety in the NFL, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler believes.
In his return from cancer, Berry played extremely well in 2015, but his complicated healthy history makes any long-term deal difficult. Minnesota Vikings defensive back Harrison Smith is currently the highest-paid safety after signing a five-year, $51.25 million extension this month.
Kansas City finished the regular season ranked fifth in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play. Berry started all 16 games, totaling 61 tackles and two picks.
