Stephen Hill

Stephen Hill was in mix to start for Panthers last year?

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Stephen Hill "would have pushed for a starting job" before tearing his ACL in training camp last year, wide receivers coach Ricky Proehl said.

What It Means:

Proehl said Hill was so impressive at spring workouts and early in camp. "Unbelievable," Proehl said. "That’s how well he was performing in camp last year." Quarterback Cam Newton also mentioned how Hill's ACL tear was a "big deal" for the team following the season. Although the mere mention of his name elicits eyerolls in the fantasy community, size-speed freak Hill may earn himself a bench spot for the reigning NFC Champions at the very least.

Hill hasn't made an impact in the regular season since 2013 with the New York Jets, when his 0.29 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) per target ranked last among the 89 wide receivers with at least 50 targets that year.
