Raiders' Connor Cook and Matthew McGloin vying for backup job

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio suggested he "wouldn't read too much into" the way quarterback reps were divided up at minicamp.

What It Means:

Rookie Connor Cook appeared to be ahead of Matt McGloin at minicamp, but that may not be permanent. "There are a lot of different combinations this time of year, making sure we give guys exposure," Del Rio said. "So, no, I wouldn’t read too much into any particular position." The Raiders would probably like Cook to win the backup job after their fourth-round investment, but they also handed out a $2.553 million tender to McGloin. Oakland could end up keeping both behind entrenched starter Derek Carr.

McGloin has a career 6.9 yards per attempt average on 262 attempts and 11 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. He has a career -0.04 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back in 272 drop backs since 2013.
