Elvis Dumervil missing Ravens' minicamp for undisclosed operation
Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil is missing minicamp as he recovers from an undisclosed "preventative" operation, but he is expected to be ready for training camp.
Ravens' coach John Harbaugh didn't offer any other details. Dumervil missed a handful of snaps with a groin issue last season, but he didn't sit for any games. The Ravens are the latest team to use the "preventative" buzzword to describe a surgery, but there's really no such thing in the NFL. Players don't undergo procedures they don't need.
Dumervil remained effective in 2015, registering six sacks. Baltimore's 0.13 Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play ranked 17th in the league last year.
