Rashard Higgins a potential three-wide starter for Browns?

Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver Rashard Higgins as a starter in three-receiver sets in the initial training camp depth chart, ESPN's Tony Grossi reported.

What It Means:

Corey Coleman and Andrew Hawkins are penciled in as the first and second receivers, but the third job is murkier with Higgins, Terrelle Pryor, Jordan Payton and Taylor Gabriel competing. Payton hasn't been able to practice because of UCLA's academic schedule, while Gabriel has been out with an undisclosed injury. Grossi likes what he's seen from Higgins so far, calling him a "smooth" route-runner and reliable pass-catcher. Nathan Zegura of Browns.com later tweeted that Pryor is pretty clearly ahead of Higgins at this point.

Pryor made one catch on eight targets last year, but that catch did go for 4.49 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP). The Browns offense ranked 21st in Passing NEP per play last year.
