Sam Bradford

Sam Bradford will be Eagles' Week 1 starter

Speaking Friday, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said, barring injury, quarterback Sam Bradford will be the Week 1 starter.

What It Means:

Beyond that, it's anyone's guess. We don't imagine the leash will be all that loose for Bradford, but Pederson has stood behind this decision all along. He's adamant that he wants first-round rookie Carson Wentz to watch and learn in year one. But if Bradford face-plants for a stretch -- which seems likely based on his career arc to this point -- it's going to be awfully tough for Pederson to not make a switch, especially in one of the hottest media markets in the league.

Considering 2015 was his first full season since 2012, Bradford didn't fare too badly. Among the 46 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs last year, Bradford ranked 23rd in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back with a clip of 0.08.
