The Carolina Panthers released cornerback Brandon Boykin.
Boykin signed a one-year deal with Carolina in late March which included an $80,000 signing bonus. The state of the corner depth chart and their willingness to eat that bonus prior to the start of OTA's suggests Boykin is dealing with an off-field issue. Once considered an elite slot corner, Boykin's career has taken a sharp turn south since being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers last August. Carolina also cut defensive back Ras-I Dowling and wide receiver Jenson Stoshak.
The Panthers ranked second in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play in 2015.
