Antonio Cromartie

Cardinals unlikely to sign Antonio Cromartie

The Arizona Cardinals aren't expected to sign free agent cornerback Antonio Cromartie, ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss reports.

What It Means:

The Cardinals have an opening opposite Patrick Peterson after losing Jerraud Powers to the Baltimore Ravens. Penciled-in starter Justin Bethel (foot) is coming off April surgery, and third-rounder Brandon Williams needs time to develop. General manager Steve Keim has a history of signing veterans late in the offseason, but there’s been nothing to connect the Cardinals to Cromartie.

The New York Jets ranked first in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play in 2015 with Cromartie in tow. The Cardinals ranked eighth in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play in 2015. Cromartie had a down year, with only 29 tackles and no interceptions last season.
