Rapoport: Steelers expected to move forward with Kenny Pickett at quarterback
Ian Rapoport reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to have Kenny Pickett start at quarterback going forward.
Pickett took over for teammate Mitchell Trubisky halfway through the Steelers' Week 4 loss to the New York Jets, helping to get the offense moving after a mostly lifeless first half. The 2022 first-round pick should be expected to start in the team's upcoming Week 5 game against the Buffalo Bills.
Pickett was thrust into Sunday's game at halftime, but still managed to get more out of the offense than Trubisky had shown an ability to so far this season. He completed 10 of 13 passes for 120 yards and 3 picks, while rushing 6 times for 15 yards and 2 scores. The 3 interceptions may look concerning, but only 1 of those throws could truly be blamed on the rookie.
