Brandon Browner will play a hybrid role for Seattle
Seattle Seahawks defensive back Brandon Browner will play a hybrid safety role this season, Seahawks' coach Pete Carroll said.
"We’re going to play him at safety in base downs and then in nickel, we’re going to use him to match up in different spots to play inside," Carroll said. "So we may be able to develop a really unique role for him."
Browner has been a disaster in coverage on the outside the last two years, but he has great size (6-foot-4/221 pounds) and has always graded out well in run defense. A role in which he is asked to cover tight ends and help out in the run game could suit him.
